I have my doubts that this is the explanation because I have done this before, but recently, on the BARDTalk list with nearly 500 subscribers, in response to some objections about the up front charge for a Bookshare subscription I again pointed out that it could be made free by volunteering and I mentioned that one would be surprised at how fast the credits accumulate.

Do you ask volunteers from where they heard about Bookshare? Are they current members? New members? People not eligible for membership? Are theyall from one geographic region? Perhaps there is a school or community grouppromoting Bookshare somewhere? Are they, perhaps, and I hate to think this, people who perhaps are trying to find out what Bookshare does because they feel it's doing something illegal? I know many of us have run into people who, once you say "scan abook", immediately believe you're doing something illegal, no matter how youtry to explain it to them. -- Jamie in Michigan Currently Reading: Indulgence in Death by J.
