That's what I do, scan what I want. True, your book may be replaced if it is from a publisher that Bookshare has an agreement with, but that could be next week or next year. There's no way of knowing. Meanwhile, you, if you scan a book you want to read, and the proofreader, get to read the book anyway, and however many other people who download it before it is replaced.

Scan any book you want. If it is a publisher that Bookshare has an agreement with that they will supply books it is likely that your submission may be replaced at a later time by a publisher quality copy. The list of safe publishers is a list of publishers with which Bookshare does not have such an agreement and is not likely to have such an agreement with in the foreseeable future and so you do not risk having your work replaced if you scan books published by them, but it is by no means exhaustive. If you come across any other publishers that should be included in that list then please report it so that it can be added.

I was going to scan some books by John Piper but neither of the two
publishers (4 diff books) are on the publisher list. So I can't do it?
