Hi Monica,

I have been away since Wednesday, and only now saw your message. So I don't know if Pavi or anyone else has talked about this situation with you. I saw the news, of course, from where I was staying at my cousin's house. I am thankful to report to you that as far as I know, the facility for Bookshare is located some miles outside Chennai, the old Madras on the southern tip of India. That doesn't mean that family or friends of the volunteers haven't been affected by this tragedy, how can they not be. It is the equivalent of 09/11 for them. Mumbai is located on the southwest coast of India and is the old Bombay. It is one of the major Indian cities, and one of the two entry points for flights to India. You must go through either Mumbai or Delhi and then take a plane to wherever else you're going. I'm so bad with geography. Somebody can correct me. There is about an hour and a half plane ride between Mumbai and Chennai. It's sort of like talking about New York City and Chicago or maybe Cleveland.

I believe I heard Pavi say that her family is from Chennai. However, that doesn't mean that relatives or friends or her family might not be involved somehow. I'll check with my friend Vikas Munnut, soon as it's a reasonable hour there to see if he and everyone are OK. I've been off-line since Wednesday, so am catching up slowly. Will let you know when I know anything.

Ann P.
