Hi everyone! Here is an example from a book I proofed to show how I handle picture captions. It was "In Her Own Voice" by Hayley Westenra. The words "above" and below" were part of the caption printed in the book.
[There are two pictures on this page.] [picture captions:] Above: The littlest star: my performing debut, aged six Below: Captivating the audience with my new microphone [End of captions.] I enjoyed that book. Debby At 09:34 PM 4/26/2011, Valerie Maples wrote
When there is a picture caption, I do the words picture caption in brackets, then the rest as in print in the book. An example:[picture caption] She could not believe what she saw down the hall! I mean, as is, all of the sudden the text is going to be interupted with little photo caption blurbs that make no sense where they are.
