Although most booksharians referred to him as Dr. Cross, and he obviously chose 
to use that honorific,many Phds prefer the Mr., preferring to leave the Dr. to 
medical professionals. My husband is one such. I suspect that newspapers may 
also use Dr. only for doctors or dentists (since when I google Dr. Kenneth 
Cross I only found dentists).
