Bookcourier and Bookport can be deemed portable Daisy readers/players.
They can deliver TTS and recorded Daisy books.

If the header stripper could remove alphabetic characters but not numeric
ones that would pretty much solve our problems. If people can't handle
hearing page numbers I think they need to increase their distraction
thresholds, because everything will drive them crazy. :-)

I'd like to know if there is any good way to read DAISY books in braille.
All solutions discussed, except those involving change to book share's
policy and procedure, would pretty much force all people desiring page
numbers to use a DAISY reader. I strongly approve of the DAISY standard,
but not of all implementations and readers. Is there a portable DAISY
reader, or only portable DAISY players?

Good point Kelly. We need a 'partial stripper'. Actually in most states
total stripping is illegal, so G-character-string rules should be
enforceable as well on K1K.

Jokes aside, I will make that suggestion to the K1K development team. To
optionally leave page numbers intact, that is.

E,
You can strip headers with k9, but the numbers will be stripped too.
Unfortunately there is no way yet to strip headers without stripping
numbers.
