On Amazon, I see a picture of two puppies sitting on a rug.  Then the Chapter 
Heading: Next Morning Then the following text:

She awoke to a brisk noise of footsteps. Someone hurried past the nursery, and 
then another someone followed, and there were voices downstairs and a sudden 
uproar of dogs barking. Martha and Rachel and Mary sat up in bed and looked at 
each other.
"Is it still the party?" Mary asked, blinking sleep out of her eyes.
"Not with the dogs," said Rachel. "Mother would never let them in the house 
around ladies in ball gowns."
