[bksvol-discuss] Re: Our Cindy

Roger,
cindy is a special person and of value.
You don't just replace people.
She could have the flu, be in the hospital, have a computer problem....
You wouldn't just replace her because she hasn't been posting for a few days or have someone else do her jobs.

She has done a thorough and thoughtful job for a long time....
I think we should wait to see what Carrie finds out.... and let bookshare make those decisions.

Cindy's list should be held for her if this is something simple like the flu ....which isn't simple if you have it.
I know from experience this week how sick it can make someone.

I don't think any decisions should be made until we know what is wrong with Cindy.

I hope she is ok.

I would think that if it was a hard drive crash that by now she would have been able to find a computer in Los Angeles to tell us about it. When I had my own hard drive crash she was helping me with a book I was proofreading and I was able to contact her from a public library computer the same day. It is, indeed, so out of character and so abrupt that I suspect that the explanation is something catastrophic. I have even googled Los Angeles newspapers for a possible obituary, but there is nothing so far. It might be a little early for that though. Sometimes an obituary does not appear until weeks after the fact. Searching only her name on Google news without the phrase Los Angeles brought up only a few items about the mayor of Norman, Oklahoma. If Carrie's phone call returns bad news or no results then I suppose we will have to learn to do without her. Some of us might want to consider taking over some of her self imposed duties like her various lists and the wish list.

Thank you Carrie. The long silence concerns me as well.
Let's hope all that is wrong is a disk crash.
