Okay, I have just been browsing Thrift Books. There seem to have been some changes there since I last visited it which was some time back. I did not remember the shipping being free, so I was kind of wondering about that. It does appear that the shipping is now free, but the prices have gone up too. There used to be scads of books there for a penney, but with shipping they cameout to be just short of four dollars. Now the shipping is free and as far as I can tell the minimum price is $3.95, so the effective price is about the same. At Amazon the cheapest you can get a book is four dollars, so Thrift books is a nickel cheaper. As used book sites go it does seem cheaper than most of the rest, but only a very little bit. If you ordered a lot of books, though, that savings could mount up. However, your best bet would probably be Paperback Swap if both sites have the same thing you are looking for. Paperback Swap advertises itself as being free, but that is not quite true. Each credit costs either a book that you mail and the cost of postage or they sell credits for about $3.50 and, even though not free like they try to make you believe, it is cheaper than Thrift Books. Then there are the library sales and thrift shops or bulk lots at eBay where you might get books for a quarter or less, but if you are looking for a specific title you have to just get lucky. If you want a specific title and it is not available at Paperback Swap then Thrift Books would probably be the next best place to look for low prices.

Right now the pages at Thrift Books seem to be loading really slowly. If it is not my browser or my ISP then it must be the web site itself. If it is the web site then that is probably your problem Kim. Try going to it and just waiting a while and see if it loads.

Here you are: http://www.thriftbooks.com/ It seems to me to be accessible enough. In fact, it has been a while since I have looked around there so I think I will go browsing the site right now.

Hi, somebody sent an email about a web site where you could buy books
without paying shipping costs. I'm not sure if this site is thrift.com or thriftbooks.com. Anyhow, I tried to go on to the thriftbooks.com web site and apparently there's nothing there or at least there wasn't as far as my
screen reader was concerned. Have any of you gone there and what kind of
book quality is there? If it's any good, accessible, and easy to use, it
gives me one more source to find books for bookshare. Thanks for the info.
Regards, Kim.
