Monica, I know what you mean about being excited. When I got the reading edge, I used it when I went to the Covina public library and stayed up all night, scanning and reading the first book I ever scanned, When tomorrow comes by Sidney Sheldon. It was a great thrill to do that. Now, I have the LA county library on my computer and I can request books on line from them. The local branch is just a few blocks from the house. Congratulations.

Hi Monica!I can identify completely! I remember feeling the very same way when I became able to access my public library. I am very spoiled, and they mail me books once a month or so. So wonderful to be able to access the web site, order books, and read whatever everyone else can read, isn't it? I just love not needing to bother someone to retrieve books from, and return books to the library. And I have the added bonus of not having to worry about traveling either, which is becoming increasingly unsafe with my health being what it isn't! Aren't libraries wonderful?Peace, Mayrie At 12:24 PM 7/13/2007, you wrote:Hi, everybody. I'm feeling so excited and independent today. I've just finished making arrangements to start getting library books to scan that will be delivered to my local branch where my dad and I can pick them up every two weeks. They've got so many books I've wanted to scan and read for ages, and now I can get to them! I know it's a little thing. It seems like a big one to me anyhow. (smile) I live in an area where there is no public transportation, and our library system used to charge a fee if you wanted a book from another branch. Now it's free and can be done online. They've even built a site that's completely accessible now with text labels on the buttons and alt tags on their images. I'm having a very good day!
