The biggest problem I’ve seen with OmniPage is that it  doesn’t generally pick 
up page numbers in tables of contents. I’ve seen this too many times to be just 
the peculiarity of a book or two. I’ve gotten to the point where I never use it 
to scan a TOC.

We have found that omnipage has formatting issues the we can’t deal with.

Most of the time when I use the OCR optimizer with K1000, it picks FineReader. 
That’s not to say there’ve been times when I’ve had some trouble with a scan 
and OmniPage didn’t help me out. There are times when it does work better than 
FineReader. But in general, FineReader seems to be the better OCR engine 
overall.

I think most of the biggest software work well these days, but I have preferred 
FineReader, and even more now that it is available on a Mac, although not quite 
as feature rich.
