We have found that omnipage has formatting issues the we can’t deal with.

Most of the time when I use the OCR optimizer with K1000, it picks FineReader.
That’s not to say there’ve been times when I’ve had some trouble with a scan
and OmniPage didn’t help me out. There are times when it does work better than
FineReader. But in general, FineReader seems to be the better OCR engine
overall.

I think most of the biggest software work well these days, but I have preferred
FineReader, and even more now that it is available on a Mac, although not quite
as feature rich.
