Try ThriftBooks.com or PaperbackSwap.com. Also, you might want to look at
the wholesale lots for sale on eBay. That can be more expensive in the
sense of paying out a lump sum all at once, but it can be the source for
about the cheapest price per book. The larger the lot the cheaper the
individual books. Another source might be your local thrift store. They
vary in price around the country, but if you are lucky enough to live in
a cheap area you can get used books for pennies.

However, I've seen used books on there asking for $4 for shipping, which
is ridiculous when you can get books locally without paying that. Also,
I'd feel mor comfortable about buying the books rather than borrowing
from libraries because scanning necessarily destroys the spines. But if
I could get books for free without having to worry about wrecking them,
I'd certainly jump at such opportunities as well. Any tips you're
willing to share would be appreciated.
