Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't, it is in the nature of the cross.
When you cross, you get the wide infinite posibilities that are present in
both breeds, smile. I have seen this with the lab golden crosses GDB is
using. I have seen dogs that have lab coat shortness, golden softness, and
the exact opposite with the dog having a very rough to the touch outer coat
and soft under coat but with golden length and feathering. I have seen dogs
that looked lab, dogs that looked golden but with lab coats, and some mixes
of the two. Is just the power of the mix.
The poodles that i saw, where trimmed very short, on the body, feet and
legs, they did have the top knot, and long fur on the ears and the pom pom
at the end of the tail.
These dogs must be groomed daily, to prevent "felting" of the coat, and they
do get trimmed every six weeks.
The ears are very similar to golden ears in that if you keep them trimmed
and bentalated then you have no problems, but if you don't keep them trim
then better watch out. By the by, I trim my dog's fur myself, and he hasn't
had an ear infection since I kept the hair trimmed in front of and under his
ear flap.

Quite an interesting breed. In fact in the book, one man uses poodles to
pull his dog sled.
They have been used as guides by opractically every guide dog school at one
point or another.
Leader Dogs, GDF, GDB and Pilot Dogs are the ones currently that I am aware
of that use them.
The Viszla is another short haired low dandroff breed, only bred by
Southeastern Guide Dogs but very intelligent. We have a book on them in the
collection. From what I have read they seem to have a very golden like
personality.

Standard Poodles were bred to be retreivers and are generally sturdy lot.
My concern with having a Standard Poodle as a guide would be the added
expense of keeping it groomed. If left alone, the hair will mat and can
harbor some unpleasant odors if not properly groomed. I also believe they
have hair in their ears which needs to be removed regularly o keep their
ears in good shape.t-----
I am wondering if the first generation of a poodle with a lab or a golden
would result in non hairy inner ears and a non shedding coat?
