Hey guys,

Contrary to rumor, I wasn't at all sick, don't know where that came from. I was at the Starbucks from 11 to 11:20, at which point I left the area, having asked about half a dozen different individuals if they might be meeting up with other Bookshare volunteers. I even confirmed that my nametag was affixed properly, so I'm not sure how the sighted folks didn't find me. Oh well, guess we'll have to try again in a year.

I did see Carrie very briefly later at the Bookshare table, and Gustavo and Janice as well.

Scott

Hi, Katie et al,

I'm back from having visited the bookshare folks at
CSUN. Unfortunately, Scott was ill and couldn't join
us for lunch, and I don't know what happened to Noah,
but I did have a lovely lunch with Carrie and Pratik,
and I had a lovely, if short, visit with the Bookshare
folks: Gustavo, Janice, Susy, and Jim. Also, Guido,
who was manning the IBM booth, was able to get away
for a few minutes, so I met him, too. And had only
time to say "Hi" to Elizabeth, who was manning the
Crisscross booth.

I wasn't able to stay for the 5:30 meeting and the
following dinner and square dance--a disadvantage of
living at home and not actually being at the
conference--but I'm glad I did meet the people I did.

Janice has been godd, I think, keeping us up-to-date
about what's going on with bookshare, and if anything
comes up at the 5:30 meeting, I'm sure she or Gustavo
will share it with us as they did last year. She did
say that the position that will work with the
volunteers and help with the approval process hasns't
been filled yet. Is there any one of you who is
willing to move to Palo Alto? I'm sure it's a lovely
place to live, and with the dot.com crash I gather
housing is more available and perhaps a little less
expensive than formerly--and with Stanford there,
it's been to offer cultural opportunities and to hve a
great library--and Carrie says there are a lot of good
restaurants.

Cindy
