Hi Jamie,

Rather than dropping water on the candy, you get a tiny bit of candy and 
drop it in a cup of cold water.  Then you feel of the said dropped candy to 
see, in the case of fudge, if it forms a soft ball in the cold water.  You 
can get burned if not careful.

How do you see the results if you do the drop test? Where you drop water 
onto the candy mixture right? I never liked to do that. It's too subjective 
for me and I was a new cook when I used to try so I wasn't sure what exactly 
to be looking for.
