all our new vounteer requests
So sorry, Shelley, and others who have written!
I was thinking I put the link so people could follow our daily updates in my
pre-surgery message to not clog the list. The link is below my name, but long
story short, Surgery went well, came home Friday by ambulance. She is not
tolerating the TLSO (back brace), so it is limiting her time up, and even at
that, they wanted her in it 23/7. Still aside from the pain meds constipating
her, she is doing surprisingly well. A few smiles and giggles and books are
her buddies again.
Thanks for asking!

We FB and write on CaringBridge about Bookshare. Also, I have been
helping teachers get their books and recommending it to others, always
mentioning the need for sighted volunteers and even people who can only do a
book a month, but seriously would be surprised if that generated 5 new
volunteers. However, the lists I am on reach an average of 1800 - 3500 people.
I also use Bookshare signatures on them at times when Nichole is not needing
prayers. ;-)
Enjoy the increase!

Hi team,
Rick and I have been trying to understand why there has been a sudden
influx of volunteers wanting to do scanning and proofreading for Bookshare. I
can't account for it due to any campaigns we have going from this end. Are any
of you aware of any possible contributing factors?
Here is some of the trend data:
Recent monthly totals of signups:
July 38
Aug 28
Sep 35
Oct 42
Signups for Nov, just thru Nov 15: 53!
It began around Tue Nov. 9th.
Features of the current campaign that are atypical of signups over
recent months:
1) over the past week we have averaged >5 signups per day (39 total):
This is 3-4x the usual rate.
2) almost all new signups are <not> members
