I don't know if such a book as already been written,
but I think it would be wonderful if someone, perhaps
one of you, would collect these stories of your
experiences growing up, both good and bad, with
enlightened parents and with ashamed parents, and
publish it. I think it would help present-day blind
children to recognize that whatever they're
experiencing has been experienced before and that
those children grew up to be happy and productive
adults, and it would benefit sighted children as well,
helping them to treat blind children and people they
might come across not in a different way and also to
appreciate the sight they have. (Who knows, you might
win a Newbery Medal and be added to the bookshare
collection).
