[bksvol-discuss] Re: OT: Just for fun

Elizabeth,

Actually, I have no idea what version I have. My teacher gave us photocopied pages of the first some odd pages of the book and that's what we're reading. I mean to get the actual book and scan it later once I've got more time. The reason for the photocopy is kind of an odd situation. Our class was supposed to have the actual book, but our school bookstore got the ISBN number wrong so we all ended up getting Arabian Nights II. This one has Sindbad the Sailor, Ali Babi and so on. But I like the sound of the original Arabian Nights book.

I'll keep in mind the name of the translator you mentioned when I get the actual book.I have no idea what translation would be better, so this might give me somewhere to start.

Which translation of Arabian Nights are you reading. They vary a lot depending on the translation and how much is censored out by the editor and how much is included in the abridged edition. Are you using the unabridged edition by Richard Burton or something else? Are you getting the book from bookshare or elsewhere?

Hi everyone,

I'm sitting at home, it's a peaceful Saturday and I'm not swamped with homework for a change. I don't know why, but I just wanted to start a fun off-topic message. How about we just send quick messages and share what we're all reading right now? Just one book to keep it short and sweet. Okay, I'm a goober, but that's something I've been saying for years. Lol.

For myself, I'm reading Aribian Nights. It's for one of my English classes and is very enchanting so far. The book starts off with the tales of Shahrazad. It totally keeps you hooked and wanting to read every one of the thousand tales. Or at least, I think it's a thousand. I've only read about half a dozen of them so far. Wish me luck.

Have a good reast of the weekend everybody,
Natalie B.
