Hi Chris,
The only way that I know of to make a table of contents in Word that has
links to titles is to go through the whole book, find all the titles, give
them any of the header styles, then go to the Insert menu and insert a
table of contents. Keep in mind, though, that the Bookshare process may not
preserve that stuff. I would hope that in the future, that the daisy
process would do a better job of finding and making HTML headers for the
titles.

Thanks.

Hi,

One more thing...

Word 2007, while doing a good job of preserving my page breaks using the
older form of rtf and turning off the recognize boxes feature adds section
breaks at every page break, does anyone know of a simple way to get rid of
these without also killing the page breaks?

Also, does anyone know how in Word one can align the page numbers with
those
assigned by OmniPage as the title page is not what the table of contents or
index consider to be page 1.

Finally, does anyone know how, in Word, to take a bunch of text that looks
like a TOC and turn it into one with actual links and the like?

Thanks for all of the help so far,
cdh

Hi,

The other thing that I did was to change the OP setting that says, "uses
boxes" or something similar to its off state. This may have also caused
some of the problems when reading rtf output in MS Word 2003 and 2007. So,
my pile of chopped books and Granta magazines will hit the in list pretty
swiftly from now on as I scan and OCR on one PC while working on another.

Also, I never got an answer on how to submit our collection of Granta
literary journals. As it doesn't seem like one can submit periodicals, I
don't know how to proceed. Should I submit them as books with titles like
Granta March 2007 Volume n? I do not think that magazines, even serious
journals have an ISBN number so am completely without a clue as to how to
bypass this item as well.

Have fun,
cdh
