The last time I tried was around midnight EDT, but I'll try around 2
ttomorrow morning. That might be quieter. I did upload a small file today
with no problem.
Then, if all else fails, I'll contact you offlist for instructions on how to
do the mass-conversion. It sounds complex, but I'm up for it. Poor Gerald!

The only thing I know to try other than converting to TXT (after changing
the page breaks to a text string), back to RTF (changing the strings back to
page breaks), and fixing the text attributes is to wait until you know
there's less activity on the server and try it then. I'd choose early in
the morning EDT or late at night PDT.
If that doesn't work, and you want to try the method I mentioned above, then
let me know, and I'll try to explain it better.

I'm using the current version of Kurzweil, but old habits die hard, so I did
bring itup and hit space, backspace and save. Even if they say the bug's been fixed, I'm not a trusting soul. <grin>

Doesn't look like you have a problem with the file itself then based on the file size.
What software did you do the validation in? It wasn't K-1000 was it? If
so, have you tried pulling it up in Word, hitting space to modify the file
to allow it to save, backspacing, and saving? I believe that bug has
supposedly been fixed, but perhaps you are using an older version.

I also asked for the RTF file size. It's the difference between the two that may tell us something. Plus, you also need to take into consideration how large the file is that the tools are trying to process.
BTW, A 2.5 MB file should probably not take longer than 5 minutes to upload on a cable modem as long as you don't have it hooked through one of the older USB ports, which are slower than the modem.

Gerald, as a text file it's 5385K.

Mickey,
How large is the file? Alsohow large is the TXT file if you convert it
to
TXT. I've seen some file sizes get out of hand when doing the cleanup,
and
I believe this is the problem with uploading some files. Of course,
your
file is going to be much larger than the normal file, so that may not be
it.
Then again, if your file grew by around a factor of 10 like the ones
I've
seen, then you'll definitely have a problem uploading this file. One
more
thing, what kind of internet connection are you using? Is it dial-up,
DSL,
cable, or an office/school connection?

Hi. I am on attempt #7 to upload this 2255-page book. I've timed out, I've had server errors. I worked on it all last night, and am diligently trying this afternoon. I figure that if I say something about it, the gremlins who run my computer will depart, and the file will suddenly upload, in the computer's attempt to make me feel dumb. But it won't work.
Really, what do I do other than upload?
