Yes. I've had that problem with hardcovers. However, it doesn't happen often
enough to make much of a difference to me. The Opticbook is fantastic! I
loved my Epson, but this one is so very much faster, and the book edge is a
fabulous, fabulous thing.

You will like it, just be careful using a hard cover due to sometimes you
might hit one of the buttons on the right side. Otherwise it will be an ease
and you will love the scanning and reconition process which with me takes
about ten seconds on a vista machine and a 64 bit processor.
