Describe the software/hardware you are using, and give the name of the book you are working on. Who knows, the person who scanned it might be on here and can tell you much more than we pompous pretenders could ever do.Finally, don't let criticism stop you. I've been a member of Book Share for about a year, and decided to start volunteering. I will be getting my own version of Kurzweil 1000 tomorrow, so I hope to start doing some scanning. I've downloaded my first book for proofreading. The scan quality is excellent, but there seems to be a lot of page breaks where there shouldn't be. My understanding is that we need to get rid of those that don't belong, right? Also, I wanted to make sure that I understand the part about the running headers or footers. These are the book title and/or chapter title that appears at the top or bottom of a page, right? My understanding is that they should be removed, but page numbers left, right? Are there any other little tricks or tips I should know that weren't covered in the manual? Thanks for your guidance. I hope to do lots of scanning and proofreading, in my spare time,to add to the collection.
