When I told everyone before that my novel had gone to the publisher, I had managed to take myself off the routing for this list.. so if anyone said congrats on the list, thanks, and if anyone asked any questions, send them again!

I will be donating an e-text version of the book to Bookshare as soon as I am sure it is in the absolute final form.. it is right now as far as I am concerned, but I assume Bookshare would like the publisher's formatted version.

I am really pleased with the book, if I may say so myself. It is a historical novel but to me a lot more. The characters and basic plot a friend and I develop as teens in the 1960s and the characters have always been dear friends to me.. well, except the villains. So this is a "heart's work" to me.

Here is the skinny:

Title: An Involuntary King
Author: Nan Hawthorne

It is the story of the younger son of a Saxon king who finds himself thrust onto the throne by the death of his father and older brother. He must prove himself not only to the governing council of the kingdom (an entirely fictional one) but also to himself. His own military genius, wise rule and the support of his new bride help him against many monumental setbacks and treachery. He must fight two wars and one usurper, while his wife, aught behind enemy lines, fights in the resistance. All the while she is relentlessly pursued by a darkly sensual mercenary who wants the king dead. There is love, adventure, grief, and humor along the way.

I hope you will enjoy it.. I am very proud that the first people to read the novel will be my friends here at Bookshare.

Cordially,

Nan Hawthorne
