Hi Lori,

The Modify Results section is at the fourth heading from the top of the page. On my Window Eyes, it says Heading Level 3. Just hit h four times from the top of the page, and you're there.

Melissa, I see what you are referring to when I do an advanced search, but not the quick search.

Hi, Melissa,

After I do a quick search in this case for Barbara Delinsky, the following is the top of the page that comes up from the top line through the first title:
Skip to 1 through 25 of 77 search results.
Bookshare Home
Home
Advanced Search
Log Out
Quick Search
Enter search term.

Search

25 of 77 results

The links don't show in my cut and paste but all the words are there.
Why am I not getting what you are talking about?

Lori, You first perform the search in the quick search box that is on all the bookshare pages. Once the page with the results comes up, there is an area called modify your results. I called it modify search in my previous message, but it is actually modify your results. That's what I get for going by memory. There are 3 combo boxes and a go button. The first combo box is sort order. The default is by relevance. You can also sort by title, author, copyright date and date added. The next combo box is called authors. The default is most relevant authors. The rest of this box is populated based on what you searched for. Having an author's name, followed by a number, which I believe, represents the number of books by that particular author that are related to your search term, though I'm not 100% sure that's what the number means. The third combo box is called results per page. You can choose from 25, 50 or 100. This is the number of search results you wish to display per page of results. Finally, there is the go button, which you select to update the search results based on your selections in the 3 previous combo boxes. I hope this was helpful.

Thank you. The problem is I have searched this page from top to bottom and cannot find any {"modify search" area.

Lori, When using the quick search, you could have gone to the modify search area, and opened up the combo box with most relevant authors, and arrowed down to Stephen King. This should have brought up just the books by him.

Well, I used the "Quick search" and searched for Stephen King with no quotes and got 19,000 results. Then I searched for Stephen King with quotes and got 1,600 results. The first results were books by King and later results contained text with the words "Stephen King". Then I used advanced search and searched for the author Stephen King and got 75 results. I generally search for authors so will probably stick with the advanced search. For me, Google is far more user friendly than this new engine, but then I don't plan to browse through lots of books just for the fun of it.

    Hi Jamie!
I searched for Edna Ferber and got over 200 results. The books
that she wrote were displayed at the beginning, and there were
many other references too--some appropriate, and some not--like
    James Ferber.
Like you, I'm not finding this new search function that user
friendly. *smile* Guess there's a definite learning curve.
You're correct when you say it's impossible to know if a book is
in the collection without looking closely at every result. Am I
    missing something here?
     Blessings.

I just put in the author's last name like I normally would in the
search box and I was surprised that I got so many hits and then
dismayed that most of them were not even close.
You use it just like you used to use the search box. That's why I
tried the advanced search and it still gives way too many results
    that aren't even relevant.
