I don't know. When I do all that standardizing and save a file with K1000, then bring it into Word to do the space backspace and save routine to make sure Bookshare likes the flavor, the file becomes larger by about a quarter or a third. I have no idea what could be causing it to bloat up. But Microsoft does like bloat a lot. <smile>

Hi Judy!

I've wondered the same thing. I use Word 2003. I have to think that when you standardize fonts, paragraphs, and eliminate blank lines, it all adds up to
decrease the size of the file. That's my thought anyway. *smile*

Blessings.

Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Microsoft Word and rtf question

Hi all,

I've noticed that when I download rtf files to proof, or even
Cindy's books being scanned list, that at soon as I make some
minor changes and save the files my new rtf files are usually
anywhere from one half to about one third the size of the originals.

I'm curious if anyone would know why. I'm using Word 2000. Is
it typical Microsoft bloat, that later versions of Word create
bigger files? Or do I have some kind of setting in Word that
compresses files more? Or is it just gremlins?

It's not a problem, just a curiosity question. smile.
