Hi Valerie,
Please read the webpage http://www.bookshare.org/about/legalInformation or
better yet, tell the author to read it. If the author makes any noises of a
threatening nature, please let me know immediately. Jim, the CEO, wrote a great
letter explaining why and how everything we do is legal, so we are ready to
respond to any authors who ask us to stop scanning their books, or remove their
books, or threaten legal action.
By the way, just to be clear, you volunteers who scan and proof books are NOT
legally liable when you follow the procedures in the online manual.
If anyone has questions, please ask!
Carrie

Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Legal questions
Hey folks,
I need help explaining to an author how Bookshare protects against overall
piracy and why Chafee means no further permission or releases are necessary.
TIA!
Valerie
