Hi Monica,

Bookshare seems like a great place to meet new people (smile). It is great
that the members and volunteers are so diverse. I am proofreading now
(hopefully the book turns out okay), and then I will continue scanning a
book I am reading for a Bible study.

Hi Chanelle. I'm so glad to hear that you're interested in doing some
scanning. We do have an extensive wish list. I suggest working on books that
interest you at first, both because they'll be more fun to work with and
because whatever you like to read, there are other Bookshare users who like
the same things. There are very few books in our collection that no one has
read. I asked Susie from the Bookshare staff about that once because I was
curious. If you spend time learning to scan books you want to read anyway,
you get a feeling of independence as well as the satisfaction of knowing
that your work is blessing someone else. We have around 45,000 members right
now, and we have members of all ages, political persuasions, and cultures.
We have people with a P.H.D, people who never made it past elementary
school, and everything in between. There are theologians, nuns, priests, and
pastors. There are also dancers, musicians, lawyers, retired folks, and
stay-at-home moms. , So whatever you like to read and want to scan, you
can't lose. Someone will greet your books with eager delight.
