Hi Shannon,

The thing that you want to do is to down arrow in the scan menu until you hear it say "optimize scanning" this will also optimize recognition settings, and if you save those settings, assuming they give you results that you like, you won't need to retain images in your file, because the scan will be good enough that you won't need to rerecognize. So, long answer short, use the optimize scanning feature. That does also optimize recognition settings as well, so you're doing both at once.

Any more questions, just ask. No problem. We all need to ask questions, some of us, (me in particular) need to ask lots of questions.

Peace,

Is it the scan or the recognition that I want to optimize? I know that, if I
optimize recognition, I need to leave images in. Is this okay to do?

Have you tried the optinizing under scanning? Most of the time that will
give you good scans.
