Okay I can't answer question 2 so we'll jump to three.

3. Why does Kurzweil read page numbers and Wordpad ignores them?
The page number you are hearing is Kurzweil's count of the pages from the beginning of the book. If you don't want to hear this you can go to the settings, verbosity settings, and arrow down until you hear something like "turning pages while reading" and hit your tab key. You will find three choices: message, chime and disable. Arrow down to disable and tab to "ok" and hit enter.
However, if you want to make this setting permanent, hit alt+t again and arrow down to "save settings" and hit enter. The system will ask you if you want to save the default settings. Choose "y" for yes. If you don't do this, the next time you open Kurzweil you'll have to make the same changes again.

Answer to number 1. is
Go to Settings, then Reading, and under there you will see a combination
box, that says "punctuation will be spoken", then arrow down, and you will
hear, none, little, some, all. hit enter, and it will read all punctuation.
