Another little something different ...

This is a book which was written and published primarily for the aspiring
bluegrass guitar player, but it also includes a biography, and interview
with Charles who sadly passed away the year after it was published, after a
bout with leukemia.

The book also has many quotes from the players and friends of Sawtelle, who
tell why he was among the best to flatpick the guitar. and I think is one
that any fan of the music should really enjoy.

Sawtelle was a founding member in the Colorado band HOT RIZE, who performed
for around 20 years, until 1990.

This spring we had former bandmateTIM O'BRIEN for a concert, and I took my
copy for him to sign at the concert. Tim just won a Grammy for his cd
Fiddler's Green this year.

Although in scanning, the 27 transcriptions of tablature and musical
notation were just jibberish and deleted, the narrative text really explains
a lot for us non-sighted wanna be pickers. And of course the book details
which albums to find the songs.

I tried to make it as good and clean as any clear mountain bluegrass stream.

Happy pickin' and have yourselves all a great Fourth of July!
And thanks for all your "Book-sharing!"
