Hi Cait!

I always standardize font by using either the font dialogue in Word
or Kurzweil. Sighted readers have said that Times New Roman at 12 point is comfortable for reading. If you want to be more true to the actual text of books, allow all bolding and italics to remain and then increase chapter or
story titles to a larger font, perhaps 16. This results in a much nicer
looking book. For some reason, the font sizes are not accurately
represented when OCRing using Kurzweil. I have no idea whether this is
because of the scanning or the recognition. And the standardizing of font
only takes about half a minute for the whole document.

Hmm.. Ok, I'll try that.

Incidentally, my husband, Mark, who is much more savvy with Word then I, is
trying to help me with this. He discovered that the fonts are all mixed
up, and that doesn't of course, show up when you're reading with K1000,
unless you check. He actually checked when using Word, and some lines only
had one or two words on them because of big fonts, etc.

I'll try the paper size deal and see what happens.

Hi Cait!

Try increasing the paper size even more. Use "custom" then you can
put something huge like 22 in the page length in inches. I'll bet that
fixes it.

Good luck!

Ok, I went ahead and changed the paper size in Word from letter to Legal, as
Christina suggested. That took the document from 553 pages down to 467
pages.. Any other suggestions? In /through all this, Kersi is still adament
that the same document is 353 pages.
