Lori: Where there seems 2 b like 1 character on a line, check the font. Sometimes when the font is large, e.g., over 12 point, it can produce some weird results, especially w/screenreading software, 4 whatever reason. I don't know exactly what the right thing 2 do in those cases is but I tend 2 make the font size smaller even though it doesn't adhere 2 the true formatting of the book cuz it makes things a whole lot more readable.
