The 3170 is the best. *smile* I do have Kurzweil, and on the page of recommended scanners or not, it does work, and it works well. If you can do it, by all means, get the 3170. It should meet your needs. I know it meets ours. Take care. Guido, a while back you suggested that I should buy the Epson 3170. I went looking on the Kurzweil site, but it didn't appear in the list of compatible scanners. I just wanted to confirm if you'd used it with Kurzweil. Also, does anyone have any other suggestions? I want something fast, but I'm not going to get something hugely expensive either. (or I'd get that fugitsu.) Thanks for any comments. I'm back on list after another absense. And I have a question for all you kerzwhile users. I will be getting Kerzwhile soon, and was wondering what would be the best scanner to get? Any recomendations, and reasons supporting them would be apreciated. Thanks all. Nehemiah
