Good thoughts to which I'd like to add 2 others:
(1) There are plenty of organizations in one's hometown that need our
help similarily. And many of our friends, neighbors and acquaintenances
will directly benefit our supporting them.
(2) These groups need our help not only around Christmas, Easter and
Thanksgiving, but the rest of the year also.
Let's not forget that.
