I can come up with better ways to find out what a book is about right now. If the Bookshare book detail page does not have a synopsis then a quick search on Amazon can usually get you one. If Amazon does not have a synopsis -- and some do not, I am scanning one right now that does not -- you can google the title and almost always find a synopsis, review or other commentary on the book somewhere. Downloading 300 books, though, just to find out what they might be about, nott only slows down Bookshare and inconveniences others, but I would think it would put an undue burden on oneself when there are so many other ways to find out if a book is one that one wants to read.

Three hundred? Really? Oh my God!

Sorry, but something is wrong with this picture.

Since I don't know what software you are using, or your level of expertise, I can't give you a way to avoid downloading so many books, but there's bound to be a better way.

By downloading so many books, not only are you slowing down the bookshare site, you are adversely effecting the speed for all your fellow readers too.

If you will post your browser, your adaptive software, and your level of expertise, perhaps others on this list could help you come up with a better way to see what a book is about.

Thanks.
Bob

I am sorry but I have said this once and I will say it again.
I love bookshare but if there was one thing I would change it would be this. I know for a fact that I can not read 300 books a month so that is not the problem I am having.
The situation is this.
New books are posted up there and I am not complaining as I think it is awesome but sometimes in the hundreds per day. The only way one can keep track so that they can come back to download books laterr once the limitatoins are reached and I have had my limit set to 300 is that you have to keep writing stuff down and coming back to try and get it. I keep saying that there should be a price plan on bookshare that if people want to be able to get more books they should have to pay more per month to make this happen. I guess where I don't quite get it is that NLS's site you don't pay for it at all the books are tons bigger and there is not one limit placed on how many you can get and it is free to all of us who qualify. I am simply saying let those of us who want more bookshare books pay more money to get more books.
What are your thoughts.
Dana
