[bksvol-discuss] Re: I Know an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Pie

Hi, Jamie. My parents and I watch a little boy two days a week, and he's with us for about 12 hours each day. Obviously, my mom and dad have done a lot of the physical care over the last couple of months. Brooks is more like a member of our extended family, and my daughter treats him like a little cousin. Once the doctor told me that I'm not contagious, I've been able to do some things with him like telling stories, teaching him about numbers and letters, and watching Scoobie Doo with him because he says the monsters are too scary for him to watch by himself. I can't take him outside to swing or dance around the living room like we used to, but that will have to wait a bit. Having him around helps me to feel better. Hugs and shared secrets from a little one can somehow make me feel younger and more alive again. So I think he's more a part of helping me to get well than a drain on my energy. He makes me laugh, and I wouldn't trade that for the world. :)

Monica, I hope you've recovered enough from your pneumonia to be watching a little one two days a week!
