Why does the bookshare tool remove page numbers from the document, why not just copy them to the ncx file. ----- Original Message ----- From: Guido Corona To: bksvol-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Sunday, January 20, 2008 6:04 PM Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Re: Help me with The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich You are correct Kenneth, any piece of hardware or software is regretably useful only to these who use them. On the other hand, the fact that the ICON handles page navigation of both bodytext and preliminary page numbering correctly in Too Far Afield', leads me to believe that Bookshare's page encoding may be correct: page numbers have been removed from the document file and moved to the NCX markup for navigation, which is what is supposed to happen. Instead, I am still concerned about chapter headings. I did find some problems in how I had normalized them in the source file. I will submit a new replacement version soon. I am looking forward to discover if Chapter heading are inserted in the NCX correctly this time. G. Guido Dante Corona IBM Research, Human Ability & Accessibility Center, (HA&AC) Austin Tx. One of their many capabilities is to search and download wirelessly books directly from bookshare and to read them with a very nice DAISY reader. They use the Eloquence TTS and have a 30Gb hard drive for storage. You will find info on the icon at: http://www.levelstar.com Toll free: 800-315-2305. I have covered the icon in my column for AFB's AccessWorld in November 2007. See: http://afb.org/afbpress/pub.asp?DocID=aw080602 There is an ICON discussion list. So, I have downloaded the BookShare file and would now like to ask this question. What device do I use to open this book so that the page numbers are revealed to me? Any help would be appreciated. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ No virus found in this incoming message. Checked by AVG Free Edition.
