I would suggest leaving the page numbering problem alone.  Adding page
numbers wouldn't be particularly desirable, because they wouldn't be the
same as the original book, and the bookshare system will give some anyway.
Page breaks aren't required either.  Basically, if you can't fix it to make
it like the original it is best to leave problems alone.  Delete the strange
numbers all over the place if they serve no useful purpose. :-)
If that was a text file all that is a lot more likely.
