Hi Kim, You, unfortunately, can't do any of what you want to do. The tools will remove indentation and extra spaces. If you really, really want the first word of each line to be farther to the right than it has been in the rest of the text, you'll have to put dashes before the first letter of each line. I suggest simply leaving the text at the left margin and not being cutesy by putting spaces between letters as the book had it printed. That was only for visual effect anyway. Sorry to put a monkey wrench into the works. The main challenge for me will be in formatting the character index at the end of the book. The person who submitted the book informs me that character names are indented in all caps and there is a blank space between letters. Question: since the main body of the text is at the left margin and the paragraph presentation isn't indented, How can I format the index so the character names are indented to make them stand out from information about them and how do I preserve double spaces between letters when there is a change?
