Sorry, Kellie, but the upgrade is $595, but with tax and shipping it comes to a little over $650.

One thing to keep in mind is that, even with K1k's excellent upgrade policy
replacing Openbook with K1k costs around $500. I know that I for one would
not find it easy to come up with this amount of money. So even if an
Openbook user agrees that K1k is preferable and would like to switch, it may
not be possible. Whenever I talk with someone who is going to be getting OCR
for the first time, I do highly recommend K1k and explain why it's so great.
But I don't want to make Openbook users feel like their scans aren't good
enough because that isn't the case. K1k makes it a lot easier to prepare
excellent scans, but it can be done with Openbook too, it just takes more
work.
