Fair Quality Scans: No Longer AcceptedYes if you get one reject it. As someone
said to be fair just look at the book but if it is too much trouble to fix, bye

Does this mean I won't have to spend time validating fair scans any more
because that did sound frustrating.

Dear Claire, Bookshare Staff at Large, and Booksharian Friends,

    Ee Ha!

Claire your news is better than fabulous! Bookshare readers and validators
will be spared so much frustration and we'll be giving the books we prepare for
Bookshare, and offer to readers, the respect they are due!

This policy will save so much time and frustration for volunteers who
examined and gave up on fair books or spent countless hours trying to bring
them up to a higher standard. And though it doesn't raise Bookshare's grand
total of books offered, I'm excited because many of us will choose to use some
of that time saved to work on BSO-ing the fair books we already have. Imagine,
we are moving toward a time when the collection will be of such high quality
that subscribers to Bookshare won't have the chance to be disappointed when
they download books.

I know E, and all of the volunteers who have been asking so fervently to be
spared the burden of wasted volunteering and reading effort demanded by those
fair books, will be celebrating! They never gave up asking for this change and
they didn't wish in vain. High five to them!

We can all walk a little taller!

    Thank you! Thank you!!!

    Always with love,

    Lissi

      Dear Bookshare Volunteers:

In our ongoing effort to raise the quality standard of the reading
experience at Bookshare.org, we are happy to announce that 'Fair'
quality scans will no longer be accepted. We feel that in order to honor
our commitment to offer the best reading experience possible for the
print-disabled community, scanned books must now meet the minimum
quality standard of 'Good' (98.6-99.3% words recognized by our quality
rating and dictionary).

Our collection is largely built from our volunteer community, and we
value the contributions from each of our supporters. We hope that this
decision will improve the Bookshare.org experience for both our readers
      and volunteers.

For helpful hints on how to produce better scans, please browse the
