As Sue has mentioned, you can handle the rejection yourself.
Before doing so, however, and especially as you have alredy worked on the 
book, I'd check the copy in the collection to make a determination which 
copy, yours or the one already there, is better.
If you feel yours is superior, when returning it to Bookshare, precede the 
title of the book with the string

bso

so that Gustavo is allerted that your validation is intended as a 
replacement.

For future reference, prior to actually working on a book, check the 
collection first.
And if your validation process takes some time, a periodic check won't 
hurt either.

I share your frustration.  If it is any consolation, if you validate 
enough books, sooner or later this will end up happening.
It, of course, doesn't make it any less frustrating.
