[bksvol-discuss] Re: Dashes

Yes, that's also what I would do. I did a book recently where the em dashes were very short, and scanned almost exclusively as hyphens. I had to change them all to em dashes as I read through the book.

It probably has something to do with the font in which the book was printed, making dashes and hyphens indistinguishable. I think I would replace them with a double hyphen.

   Hi Folks,
In the book I am working on right now, there is only a single dash where there should be a pause in the reading of the text. In most books, there is usually a long dash or a double dash there. My question is, should I put in double dashes where there ought to be a pause in the reading of the text instead of the single dash? This would diferentiate the single dash (or hyphen) from the double dash where there should be a pause. Thanks!
