I believe the manual says that you should use the latest copyright, andsince she did it, she is the copyright holder. I think I'm right about it,but does anyone else know for sure? Numbers 6:24-26----- Original Message ----- From: "Mike" <mlsestak@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>To: <bksvol-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Tuesday, May 11, 2010 10:54 PM Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Copyright question I know there have been many discussions on this list about copyright problems and I'm hoping this has come up before and someone has an answer. I have nearly finished Midnight Moon by Dorothy Lyons, but I have a copyright question about it. It has a copyright page, but that only has the date and the publisher. That could well be the correct copyright information for 1941. But I thought I'd check whether any other copyright information was available online. Sure enough, I found that the author, not the publisher renewed the copyright in 1968. So, when filling in the metadata page on bookshare, should I use 1941 and the publisher, 1968 and the author, or maybe 1941 and the author? If the author had been listed on the copyright page in the book, I wouldn't have bothered to look anything up and if say a relative had renewed the copyright, I'd never know, so I'd have no reason to question it. But I just hate to put down the publisher when I now know the author, not the publisher renewed the copyright. Also, this led me to find a potential new resource for checking copyrights. In Google books there is a whole series (I don't know how many years), called Catalog of Copyright Renewal Records for [some year such as 1968]. And finally, just to keep the number of posts down on the list, I will add here, I can't see why there should be a limit on posts by any person as long as they are on topic posts. Especially in Jamie's case where they are not only on topic, but about work being done.
