[bksvol-discuss] Compressing RTF: file too big for upload

Hello All,
I used to submit books in text format because the RTF versions were too big
to upload -- 40 mb or so. By the time the upload was done, my session would
expire and I would be told to log in again and my book was not uploaded.
However, Bookshare no longer accepts text format. Is there any way to get my
RTF to be any ssmaller? I scanned it using the .TIF image format, in which
several pages are scanned into one image. This puts each scanned page on its
separate page when I OCR it with Omnipage. When I combine the three or so
RTF files into 1, (I can only scan 100 pages into each TIF file) the
resulting RTF is over 40 MB. Is there any way to strip the RTF of it's
graphical formatting -- color, alignment, Etc. while still keeping page
numbers? Thanks for any help.
