Hi Sue! Thank you. That sounds right to me. I've always counted the preliminary pages in the page count because I thought if Word said there's x number of pages, that page count had to match up with the metadata number or the book would be rejected. *smile* But it makes sense not the count the preliminary pages, and let the database calculate the proper number, I guess. Hi Lynnsky! I think of how NLS lists pages. In the front where they tell how many pages a volume has, they list i-xii and 1-208, just as an example. So that would indicate that preliminary pages are not counted as core text. So the page count, according to that, would start at the beginning of the core text. I'd appreciate a clarification on whether preliminary pages count as part of the page numbering in a book. I assumed they did count. However, a book I proofread was returned for further editing; and when I uploaded it, after the editing, I noticed that the page count reflected only the text pages and not the preliminary pages. Can someone please clarify this for me? Thank you. Blessings. Lynn I ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ No virus found in this incoming message.
