Hi Kim, You, unfortunately, still should standardize the font type and size before doing any enlarging of chapter headings. OCR is notoreous for recognizing books with scads of different style and size fonts and books generally have this, in my experience. Also, If your chapter title has a title, but that title isn't a subsection of the chapter, meaning there are not more than one part to the chapter, the title should be in the same size font as the "chapter one" part, or whatever the title of the chapter is, be it a number or the number spelled out in letters. Sorry to bring more work. I want the chapters to be put in bold type and I also want them to appear larger, so I opt for chapter headings to be in 16 pt. type. In this case "Chapter Seven", "7", or "seven" will be put in 16 pt. type. if there is a title to the chapter, e.g., "Chapter seven In Which Our Hero Finds Himself Up the Creek" or "Losing Proposition", then I'd put these words in 14 pt. type to distinguish them from the average ordinary text. I think I might put them in bolder type as well. This has absolutely nothing to do with what you or I might read in Braille, but it does look visually interesting or it might. Sighted folks on this list might have to answer as to the aesthetics of this. Regards, Kim Friedman. -----Original Message----- From: bksvol-discuss-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:bksvol-discuss-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of regina alvarado Sent: Monday, January 17, 2011 8:29 AM To: bksvol-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Re: Chapter Headings Question, is it imperative that i change the font on chapter headings and how do i know if it needs to be done? Is this correct? Just want to be clear. In the past I put astarecks if the page number was at the bottom. Thanks. -----Original Message----- From: bksvol-discuss-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:bksvol-discuss-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Bob W Sent: Sunday, January 16, 2011 2:26 AM To: bksvol-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Re: Chapter Headings Thinking back, I believe you are right Mike. And your solution is the best. If you will send me the name of a book you've done this with, I'll check it out and let you know the results.
