Hi everyone,
A while back I remembered Gustavo mentioning he would like to see the
collection hit 22,500 by convention time. Tonight after Tony posted his link I
did some playing with numbers.
I obtained the following numbers using the Advanced Search option.
Live books in English 22,680
Live books in Español: 181
Total live books: 22,861
First I'll applaud everyone for getting 2,861 books into the collection since
the first of the year...
The question now is of course, can we get 139 more books by either July 1, or
the end of the week since that's actually the half way mark of the year. And of
course that's when the conventions start. ..
So in an attempt to see actually how feasible this was I went and looked at
the latest edition of Marissa's list. Since books in the admin queue are now
separated, I was quickly able to see there are 71 books in the admin pool as of
the generation. Looking at the site, the nearest I could tell, 6 books had been
approved. Leaving 65. Now if we assume that say 15 of them get sent back for
more editing or are rejected, that's a total of 22,861 + 50 = 22,911.
Just 89 books away from 23,000. What do you say admins, volunteers? Can we
hit the magical number and have the right to brag for churning out **500**
books a month for the first half of 2005?
I know I'm going to do my best to submit at least 5 more books between now
and the end of the week, all of which of course will be easy validations....
