I called the library that handles her NLS subscription and was able to talk to someone who kind of knew what to do and get the ball rolling for her to have a username and password. I am still amazed at the people that will let me call for her without a written authorization but when I explain that yes she has a Braille TTY and has had it for a couple of years but that no, no one has hooked it up for her yet and it doesn't look like it will be hooked up at any time in the future, they are pretty understanding. Not that I mind calling but I wish someone could get the darned thing hooked up for her. Like it's not bad enough being deaf and blind that you have to jump through hoops just to get things that the rest of the world takes for granted? I am thinking about writing to her elected officials to see if someone can't light a fire under someone who is supposed to be helping her.
